Wellness Wednesday: Your Guide to a Healthier You

If you were like most of America, you stayed up way too late last night and woke up either very happy or heartbroken over the results.

Elections can stir up many emotions—excitement, the promise of something new, anxiety, frustration, sadness and even fatigue—leaving us feeling out of balance and drained.

It’s natural to feel the weight of events happening around us, but here’s a gentle reminder: while you can’t control the outcome of an election or every news headline or social media post, you can control how you respond.

I am choosing LOVE…I am choosing to love myself, my family, my friends, my neighbors and those who have different political views than myself.

Regardless of where you land politically, these next few days will be hard on some and exciting for others. I invite you to take a break from social media if you need it, take a moment to breathe, refocus, and honor your feelings – it is OK to feel excited and joyous if your candidate won, it is also ok to grieve and feel sad if your candidate lost…neither is wrong.

By shifting attention to what’s within your control—your mindset, how you care for yourself, and the kindness you extend to others—you reclaim your peace and preserve your energy for what truly matters.

Let this be a day to prioritize your well-being amidst the noise.

The Surprising Link Between People Pleasing & Your Health by The Mel Robbins Podcast

In this episode, Dr. Neha Sangwan, an internal medicine physician and bestselling author, uncovers the surprising link between people-pleasing and illness. She and Mel discuss how people-pleasing often begins in childhood as a coping mechanism, leading to stress, chronic worry, and even health issues. Dr. Sangwan also shares a 3-part framework to help you set boundaries and reclaim your health by learning to say “no.”

Engage with Your Body

Somatic Tip of the Week

Somatic techniques, like butterfly tapping, help release stored energy and bring us back to a place of calm.

Butterfly tapping involves gently tapping each shoulder in a slow, alternating rhythm, which activates the body’s natural calming response.

This bilateral stimulation can help calm the nervous system, bring you back to the present moment, and relieve tension stored in your body.

Somatic Exercise

BUTTERFLY TAPPING

  1. Cross your arms over your chest so that each hand rests on the opposite shoulder or upper arm.
  2. Then, gently tap one hand at a time, alternating left and right, in a slow, rhythmic pattern.
  3. Focus on the sensation of the tapping, allowing it to ground you.
  4. Try this for a few minutes, pairing it with deep, steady breaths to enhance the soothing effect.

Gratitude Challenge: November

What are you grateful for?

Gratitude is more than just a practice—it’s a way of shifting our hearts and minds back to what truly matters.

When we choose gratitude, we open ourselves to noticing the small, beautiful moments in our lives, even when things feel heavy.

By actively acknowledging what we’re thankful for, we invite in peace, connection, and resilience.

This simple act can transform our outlook, grounding us in the present and reminding us that, even in the messiness, there is always something good to hold onto.

I invite you to write or journal about FIVE things you are grateful for throughout the month of November and witness any changes you feel.
