Caregiver Wellness & Support
I’m a Caregiver by Circumstance
I don’t know that I ever imagined just how much of my life would be shaped by caring for others. Looking back, I can see that it started long before I became a wife or mother. As a child, I found myself navigating the realities of addiction in my family, and over the years, I’ve continued to step into roles I never could have anticipated.
I am a step-mom, foster parent, an adoptive mother, an advocate for children with complex needs, and now a caregiver to my aging mother and husband. For most of my marriage, I’ve walked alongside my husband through chronic pain, multiple surgeries, treatments that offered hope, and now, the uncertainty of a complex, progressive neurodegenerative condition, also known as Parkinsons plus syndrome.
Some people say they were born to be caregivers, that caring for others is simply in their nature.
That’s not my story.
I’m not a caregiver by nature, I’m a caregiver by circumstance. With the exception of fostering, I didn’t necessarily choose these roles. Life brought them to me, and I did what so many of us do. I stepped in, figured things out, advocated, researched, made decisions, and kept going.
Somewhere along the way, caregiving became woven into nearly every part of my life. There are days when I look at other families and wonder what it would feel like to have a little more freedom, to make plans without worrying about someone’s symptoms, physical limitations, or what tomorrow might bring.
There are days when I’m exhausted, frustrated, and overwhelmed and there are days when I’m deeply grateful for the life we’ve created, even though it looks nothing like the life I once imagined.
Both can be true…
What I’ve come to understand is that caregiving changes more than our schedules. It changes our relationships, our priorities, our sense of freedom, and sometimes even how we recognize ourselves.
I’ve also learned that we can become so accustomed to being the person everyone depends on that we forget what it’s like to simply exist without someone needing something from us and I think that’s something that needs to be talked about more!
Not because I have the answers, but because I know how much it matters to have people around you who understand without needing everything explained.
A Place to Simply Be...
I wanted to create a space where, for a little while, you can put down some of what you’ve been carrying.
Some days that might mean sharing your story, laughing at the absurdity of caregiving, or talking about the things you’ve been holding inside.
Other days, you might have nothing left to give and wish to sit quietly, listen, or simply be surrounded by people who understand without needing an explanation.
There’s no expectation to find the silver lining, have everything figured out, or pretend you’re doing better than you are.
For an hour, you don’t have to be the caregiver, the advocate, the decision-maker, or the person holding everything together, you can simply exist with all your thoughts and feelings and breathe.

Common Questions
Here are some answers to questions we frequently receive from other caregivers.
Do I have to share my story or participate in conversations?
Not at all. Some days you may feel like talking, and other days you may simply want to sit quietly and listen. There is no pressure to share, participate, or explain yourself. You’re welcome exactly as you are.
Who are these gatherings for?
Anyone navigating the responsibilities and complexities of caring for someone they love. Whether you’re supporting a spouse or partner living with chronic illness, or caring for an aging parent, you’re welcome here.
Every caregiving journey looks different, but there’s something meaningful about being around people who understand the weight of caring for others.
Is this a therapy or coaching group?
No. This isn’t group therapy or a structured coaching program.
It’s a caregiver-only gathering where we can share experiences, connect with one another, or simply enjoy a little quiet without expectations.
My background in trauma-informed somatic coaching and integrative wellness informs how I hold the space, but you won’t be expected to work through anything or participate in exercises.
What if I'm having a particularly difficult day?
Come exactly as you are…
You don’t have to arrive in a good mood, find something positive to share, or pretend you’re doing better than you are.
There may be laughter, tears, frustration, conversation, or silence…all of it has a place here.
Can I bring the person I'm caring for?
These gatherings are designed specifically for caregivers, giving you an opportunity to step outside your caregiving role for a little while.
I recognize that finding someone to stay with your loved one isn’t always easy. My hope is to create a space that acknowledges those realities while preserving this time just for caregivers.
